How To Save More Money – 2022

Work Smart. Not Hard!

Mindset Shift

One of the best things that I learnt from one of my mentors was. Work Smart. Not hard!

Have you heard of the 20/80 rule?

20% effect = 80% results when I first heard this strategy it made no sense to me. AT ALL!

How can anyone put less effort and receive more results!?

I am an open minded person, so I obviously tried it out and was totally surprised by the results of working smarter and not harder.

I felt less overwhelmed and see more improvements within our businesses.

Not long after the discovery of the 20/80 rule and trying it out, I came across another method on saving money which includes percentages.

Some of you have most likely heard of this pot saving method but for those that haven’t…the 50/30/20 rule is a great way to grow your income and keep on top of your finances.

The idea is to get 3 pots and label each pot. Any money that you take home from income will go in to these pots.

50% goes on your needs such as food, bills and debts etc.

30% goes on fun such a eating out etc.

20% goes on future you such as investing, emergencies etc.

We tried this for a few months and again, it made paying our bills more manageable and everything less overwhelming. We got to have much more fun too.

You can also change the percentages to suit your budget.

Shifting your mindset is a great way to save more money. Changing the way that you look at money really helps massively.

If you believe there isn’t enough money to go around, then you will NOT be abundant when it comes to money.

If you believe that the only way to have a better life is to save money, then you’ll waste your time away saving money that is going down involve each and every day.

Check Your Utility Providers

Have you ever heard of those people that stick to the same providers for years on end?

That was me once upon a time!

I had stuck with one energy supplier for years and always had the same network provider most of my life. Main reasons being, I had told myself if I was loyal then I’d get the best price.

That’s not always true…

Some energy companies will tell you this just like they did me, shop about every year!

Always remember to take care of your energy usage. Sometimes it best to do washing later in the day and always make sure to defrost your freezer because if the ice is more than 3cm it uses more energy.

We have also noticed in the colder months, leaving the heating on and just reducing the temperature instead of turning it off and on has saved us a lot on our gas bill and we still keep warm. We also wear extra layers too.

Waste Less Food

I know it’s easier said than done but if we make more conscious decisions when we shop and eat it’s a great way to save a fortune!

Making a list, only buying what you need, looking for offers and discounts, prepping meals, having no spend days help massively too.

According to some resources a third of what we waste in the home is edible!

Remember most foods can be frozen and dehydrated and if you’re worried about food safety, always remember…

Use by date is a cut off date of which is considered not safe to eat the food.

Best Before is just the date the food is at its best and will not harm you or your health.

Cancel Unnecessary Subscriptions

Yes again, something that we are all most likely guilty of at some point in our lives. Think about it, how many different entertainment accounts do you really need?

Do you have a TV that you pay a license for with a channel packages, which you probably pay for too? So do we really need to pay for Amazon prime, Netflix, Spotify, ad free YouTube and go to the cinema?

Probably not!

Go through your subscriptions and have a good think of what you really need. I mean sometimes we are paying for subscriptions that we signed up for years ago and don’t even use but we are still paying for it!

Look At Tax Relief & Benefits

Yes believe it or not, even when you’re working you still can get some benefits. Even better you can even get some great tax relief and exemptions.

The best thing to do is to take a look online!

It’s all legal, you just need to have the knowledge and you can find a lot out by visiting the government websites.

It will tell you what expenses you can claim back and they are not even all listed on the website!

If you look you will find so much information online if you can’t find it offline. Again, most of the time it boils down to mindset.

If you want it you will get it. Just ask. Google is a great place to start! There are a lot of generous people out there. Sharing free knowledge daily.

MORE GREAT WAYS TO SAVE MONEY!

D.I.Y – DO IT YOURSELF!

You can save a lot of money by doing it yourself. We were very surprised by how much money we saved by swapping a few store-bought items for homemade items.

What did we swap?

We stopped buying body wash, shower gel, bars of soap, shampoo, conditioners, body cream, perfumes, and air freshener!

Instead what we did, was buy all of the ingredients straight from the wholesalers.

Not only did we save money at home but for others too by giving them out as random gifts or for birthdays. They usually get quite some good feedback.

We haven’t bought any of the above items for almost a year now but we will have to stock up again soon!

Most people will say that they don’t have time or know-how to but the truth is, if you want something then you will make the time, to be honest, it doesn’t take that much time or money to do it yourself and nowadays the information is right in front of your face.

You just have to look.

There are lots of things that we can do ourselves to save money, like cleaning our own windows, washing our own cars, cutting our own grass and cooking our own meals from scratch can also work out a lot cheaper.

For those who don’t have much time…

You can cook in bulk and freeze the meals for a later day.

Make our own pizzas. Fry our own fries!

GROW YOUR OWN FOOD

We will leave it there for now because there’s quite a lot of information here already and it can be a lot to take in. We hope that this helps you to save more money in 2022 and beyond.
